Nothing accelerates progress faster than coaching. It will take you farther, faster than anything else.

If you’re visiting this site, you’re clearly serious about increasing your productivity, finishing your writing and other projects, improving your career, and becoming happier in general.

Why wait? Or, more to the point: don’t wait. Your life is valuable, your skills are valuable – not just to you, but the rest of us – and you deserve to be happy.

Let’s face it – underproductivity is a misery. (I know – I’ve been there.) The people who use my coaching crave achievement and success, but can’t figure out how to “connect the dots” so that they can utilize their talents, strengths, skills and commitment in the service of their important projects.

I show them how.

Coaching is not therapy. Therapy is great, but most therapists are unfamiliar with the specific issues related to underproductivity, perfectionism and time misuse. That’s why many clients tell me they’ve made more progress with me in a few hours than they had with their therapists in years.

Coaching also differs from most therapy in that it focuses on problem-solving, and is short term. Nearly all my clients see improvement after just a single session, and most achieve strong, sustainable improvement after just 5 to 10 hours of working together.

Coaching is not expensive. It’s actually cheap. If I work with you for one hour and help you gain just an extra hour of productivity per week, that’s a huge return in just the first year! But my coaching doesn’t just add an hour or two to your input: it can double or treble it, or multiply it even more. (And the benefits tend to accelerate over time.) In many cases, actually, people go from near-zero productivity to huge productivity, so we can’t even do the math.

Coaching is immediate. My coaching is, anyway. Like most of us, you have probably been absorbing society’s pervasive antiproductive and perfectionist messages your whole life. In our very first session, we will clear away a lot of this cruft and replace it with saner, more productive attitudes. You should see immediate relief and improvement.

And my coaching is a safe investment. See below for information on my 50% Money-Back Guarantee.

If you’re familiar with my writing, you probably already have an idea of what kind of coach I am. I’m compassionate, yet direct and focused and precise. I aim for quick progress. I don’t beat around the bush, but tell you what I think you’re doing right (usually, more than you realize), what I think you’re doing wrong (usually, less), and how others may be influencing your situation. And I do best with clients who like a nuts-and-bolts, pragmatic, problem-solving-oriented approach.

I offer two coaching options:

Coaching Option #1: Three-Phase “Productivity Intensive” Program

One thing I’ve learned, in the years I’ve been doing this work, is that people make the fastest progress when they have frequent support, and especially support at the very moments they are being underproductive. My new Productivity Intensive Coaching Program will provide that support for entrepreneurs, executives, faculty, students, writers, and others who need to get as productive as possible as soon as possible.

It consists of three phases: Problem Definition, Intervention and Maintenance:

Problem Definition is a 90-minute conversation in which we discuss the specific nature of your underproductivity, and also design solutions. We’ll look at how procrastination, perfectionism, ambivalence, and other antiproductive forces are manifesting themselves in your work and life, the impact they’re having, and what is causing them. Prior to the call, I’ll ask you to send me your resume or C.V., and a 2-3 page informal narrative outlining your situation, goals and challenges. I’ll review those ahead of time so that we have a more efficient call, and after the call I’ll follow up with an email summarizing the major points we discussed, and actions you can take to immediately begin boosting your productivity. You’ll also get a *free* followup day of Intervention (see next paragraph) – meaning, a day where we speak briefly before, during and/or after you do your work, with the goal of ensuring you have the most productive day possible.

Clients who want serious productivity gains in the shortest time possible will then want to move on to Intervention, where you’ll have up to ten calls a week with me. One call per week might be a long (approx. 1 hour) session, but most will be short check-ins of between 5 and 10 minutes. These will occur mainly in the mornings before your workday starts, in the evenings (to “process” the workday), and/or at moments you’re actually having trouble doing your work. During these calls, we’ll stay focused on your task, and the goal will be to help you identify and overcome incipient procrastination and perfectionism so that you can not only have a great workday but be less susceptible moving forward. Based on my experience with prior clients, most clients should need a month or two of Intervention at most.

Maintenance is a “lighter” form of Intervention for those who have already made strong, sustained progress via Problem Definition and Intervention. During this phase you’ll have up to two checkins a week, and up to two long calls a month. We’ll reinforce the knowledge you’ve already internalized, tackle new challenges, and make plans for ongoing improvement.

All coaching is prepaid, and done via telephone or Skype. All coaching hours are valid for up to 1 year after purchase. (But why wait? Use them sooner rather than later.) I generally coach in the mornings and evenings Eastern time, including some weekend hours, and will do my best to accommodate your schedule.

50% Money-Back Coaching Guarantee

I so believe in this work – and have seen such amazing results with so many clients – that I have decided to offer a 50% money-back guarantee. Money-back guarantees are rarely offered in coaching, in part due to the reality that success depends as much or more on the client as the coach, but I also feel it’s reasonable to expect a professional to stand behind her work. So here’s my guarantee: if at any time you feel my coaching isn’t working for you, I’ll refund 50% of your payment, minus the prorated amount for work we’ve already completed and any applicable PayPal or other fees.

As with all of my coaching terms, this is subject to change at any time (although, of course, any coaching purchased with a guarantee will retain that guarantee). But I’ll give this a try and if it’s working for me and my clients it’s a keeper. I actually love the idea of accepting more risk in a transaction where people who often don’t know me do me the profound compliment of engaging my services.

If I could communicate one thing to you right now it would be a sense of hope. I’ve been where you are, and know the shame and frustration of underproductivity. However, I also know that it’s a solvable problem – and solved far more easily than you might imagine. I also know that what lies on the other side is glorious, and well worth the struggle.
